The ceremonial opening of a modular plant for the production of vegetable oil in Mazar-e-Sharif city (Afghanistan) with the assistance of Uzbekistan will be held on May 14, Trend reports with reference to Dunyo News Agency.
The plant was established by Uzbekistan's Al-Taminot company as part of a $80,000 contact.
In the summer of 2019, the Association of Uzyogmoysanoat (Uzbekistan) and the Main Department of State Enterprises and Companies of the Ministry of Finance of Afghanistan signed a “Plan of Practical Measures” for the joint development of oil and fat enterprises, which included modernization and reconstruction and construction of new oil and fat enterprise.
In recent years, cooperation between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan has improved. In January 2017, the first round of political consultations between the two countries' foreign ministries was held in Tashkent. Appointment of Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan has become an embodiment of special attention paid to strengthening bilateral relations.
There are great prospects for the development of cooperation in the trade, economic, transport, transit, energy, chemical, agricultural, educational, cultural and other fields, and the implementation of mutually beneficial joint projects, the message said.
A joint commission on cooperation in the field of trade, transport and energy has been created to effectively use the available opportunities. In Afghanistan, Uzbekistan has implemented railway, energy and construction projects.
At the end of 2019, the volume of mutual trade reached more than $600 million.
