Turkmenistan and Japanese Sumitomo Corporation have discussed the development of mutually beneficial economic projects, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.
Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting with representatives of the corporation, which was held via a videoconference.
The parties discussed the interaction of the business circles of Turkmenistan and Japan in the electric power industry, transport and communication sector, agriculture other areas where the cooperation is expected to be effective.
The Japanese side shared ideas for expanding cooperation in the investment sphere as well as in introduction of advanced technologies.
The parties expressed confidence that implementation of the above-mentioned initiatives will contribute to further enhancing technological cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan.
Sumitomo Corporation is interested in expanding its presence in the Turkmen market, the report said. Earlier, the corporation was awarded a contract by Turkmenenergo State Power Corporation for civil and installation work for construction of Zerger (Lebap) Gas-Fired Power Plant in Lebap province of Turkmenistan with power capacity of 400 megawatts.
