Iran reveals volume of wheat and rapeseed purchased in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 23

More than 14,200 tons of wheat have been purchased from farmers in the Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province (southwestern Iran) from April 20 to date (May 23), said Abolhassan Sadaghat Kish Executive Director of Government Trading Corporation of Iran’s branch in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province, Trend reports citing the website of the Government Trading Corporation of Iran.

According to Sadaghat Kish, the value of purchased wheat is more than 400 billion rials (about $9.5 million).

Sadaghat Kish added that during this period, more than 2,000 tons of rapeseed were purchased from farmers in the province.

"The value of rapeseed purchased from farmers was more than 94 billion rials (about $2.2 million)," he said.

The price of ordinary wheat to be purchased from farmers in the current planting year is set between 25,000 rials (about 59 cents) and 26,000 rials (about 61 cents) per kilogram of durum wheat in Iran in the current Iranian year.

A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice and other products, are purchased from farmers by a state company under a guarantee in Iran.
