Azerbaijan sees growth in fruit, vegetable exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 2

Azerbaijan's export of fruit and vegetables amounted to $153.9 million from January through April 2020, having climbed by 3.2 percent compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports with reference to the Export Review of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC) on June 2.

During the reporting period, export of plastic and its products amounted to $60.5 million, cotton fiber - $45 million, electricity - $34.3 million, chemical products - $26.5 million, aluminum and its products - $25.8 million, ferrous metals and its products - $15.1 million, cotton yarn - $8.7 million, alcoholic and soft beverages - $4.8 million, and sugar – $4.5 million.

Export of electricity decreased by 31.4 percent, cotton fiber – by 29.3 percent, aluminum and its products – by 22.4 percent, ferrous metals and its products - by 21.1 percent, chemical products - by 10.2 percent, cotton yarn - by 8 percent, and plastics and its products - by 2.6 percent compared to the same period of last year.

In 2019, non-oil export of Azerbaijan exceeded $1.7 billion, which is $16 million, or 10 percent more compared to 2018.
