Uzbekistan plans to establish world's largest lavender plantation

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 2

The world's largest lavender plantation is being laid in Koshrabad district of Samarkand region, Trend reports with reference to Samarkand News.

Alihan Organic Agro LLC is currently working on this project - over one million lavender seedlings have been planted on 110 hectares of land already.

Commercial interest to this plant is due to the fact that lavender oil is widely used in perfumery. The largest areas of such plantations available in Turkey and France do not exceed 300 hectares.

“Representatives of a French perfume company, has recently visited the plantations, and made sure that the products are grown without using chemical fertilizers, as evidenced by the provided certificate,” the message said.

In the world market one liter of lavender oil, depending on various parameters, costs from $20 to $100. Flowers and leaves of lavender are used in vitamin teas.
