Azerbaijan’s automaker plans to increase production volume

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 10

The cars produced by Azerbaijan’s Azermash OJSC were supposed to be exported to Ukraine for the first time on April 10, 2020, First chairman of the board of Azermash Emin Akhundov told Trend on June 10.

“But the export was postponed till June due to a number of logistical problems,” Akhundov added. “The cars were to be exported in May too but due to the problems associated with logistics in Ukraine, the cars were not exported.”

"The income from this export exceeds 11,000 euros,” first chairman added. “Some 600 cars are planned to be exported to Ukraine till late 2020."

While speaking about the production of cars, Akhundov emphasized that the company has produced 672 cars since the beginning of the year.

“About 4,000 cars are planned to be produced till late 2020,” first chairman said.

"The construction of a plant for the production of small trucks and vans in the Hajigabul industrial zone, which is expected to be completed this summer, is underway,” first chairman said. “In accordance with our estimates, the construction of the plant will be completed in June 2020. The share of Azermash in the construction of a plant for the production of small trucks will reach 100 percent."

The official opening of Azermash plant was held on March 29, 2018. The founders of the plant are Iranian Iran Khodro and Azerbaijani AzEuroCar. The plant operates in the Neftchala industrial zone in southeastern Azerbaijan. All cars produced at the plant comply with Euro-5 standards.

The investments in the establishment of the plant at the first stage amounted to $15 million.
