More than 200 facilities will be commissioned in agricultural sector of Iran’s West Azerbaijan Province (northwestern Iran) during the agricultural week (June 10-17), said Rasoul Jalili, director of Agriculture Department in West Azerbaijan Province, Trend reports citing IRNA.
According to Jalili, 371 million rials (about $8,800) were spent in the agricultural sector on construction, economic and production facilities.
Jalili added that 197 facilities will be put into operation to provide 910 hectares of land with modern irrigation systems. Also, a 5.2 km long pipeline will be laid and and 1 facility with a capacity of 730 cubic meters will be commissioned.
The official said that it is planned to put into operation 5 facilities in livestock sector with the spending of 189 billion rials (about $ 4.5 million) and 46 people will be employed.
Jalili said that it is planned to put into operation 3 facilities within the greenhouse sector, with the spending of 52 billion rials (about $ 1.23 million) and 13 people will be employed.
“With the spending of 20 billion rials ($476,000), 2 facilities will be commissioned on fishery sector and 9 people will be employed.
More than 6 million tons of agricultural products are grown annually in Iran's West Azerbaijan Province. The province has 120,000 hectares of gardens and 700,000 hectares of arable land.
June 10-17 is celebrated as Agriculture Week in Iran.
