As many as 38 facilities and enterprises in the agricultural sector are being commissioned in Iran’s Tehran Province during the Agricultural Week (June 10-17), Director of Agriculture Department Karim Zolfogharie told IRNA, Trend reports.
According to Zolfogharie, a total of 1.34 trillion rials (about $31.9 million) in funds were spent on these facilities and enterprises.
Zolfogharie added that the facilities and enterprises will operate in the area of irrigation, plants, livestock and fishery.
The director said that 1,550 people will be employed with the commissioning of these facilities and enterprises.
"With the commissioning of enterprises and facilities, 14,000 tons of products will be added to the production in the agricultural sector of Tehran Province," he said.
Zolfogharie said that as a result of commissioning of the enterprises, more than 4 million cubic meters of water will be saved in the province.
There are 187,000 hectares of agricultural areas in Iran's Tehran Province. Tehran Province produces about 6 million tons of agricultural products a year. About 6 percent of Iran's agricultural production accounts for Tehran Province.
