Uzbekistan sets prices for state procurement of grain

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 16

By Ilkin Seyfaddini - Trend:

Uzbekistan has set procurement prices and grain volumes for government resources, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.

In 2020, more than three million tons of harvested grain and 293,500 tons of grain seeds will be purchased for this purpose.

These volumes of purchases are determined by a government decree on measures to organize timely and high-quality harvesting of grain crops sown for the harvest of 2020, said the ministry.

In order to ensure stability in the domestic market, the government has set the prices for state procurement of spiked grain. In particular, the purchase price of one ton of durum wheat of the first class with added tax is 2.5 million soum ($244.5).

All bakery enterprises and grain-growing clusters will purchase additional grain in accordance with contracts at prices agreed with farms, the message said.

In the first quarter of 2020, Uzbekistan's flour imports fell by almost 50 percent and grain imports by 31 percent, compared to the same period of 2019 amid coronavirus pandemic.
