Iran discloses volume of wheat purchased from farmers

As much as 3.17 million tons of wheat were purchased from farmers in Iran from April 4 to June 15, Trend reports citing the Government Trading Corporation of Iran.

According to report, the value of purchased wheat was more than 80 trillion rials (about $1.9 billion).

“The process of purchasing wheat from farmers in the Bushehr Province (southern Iran) has been completed,” report said.

“At present, wheat is being purchased from farmers in 20 provinces of Iran,” report added.

According to the report, about 1.2 million tons of wheat were purchased in Khuzestan Province, 603,000 tons in Golestan Province and 430,000 tons in Fars Province.

In addition to the wheat, so far, 213,000 tons of rapeseed worth 9.51 trillion rials (about $226 million) have been purchased from farmers in Iran.

The price of ordinary wheat to be purchased from farmers in the current planting year is set between 25,000 rials (about 59 cents) and 26,000 rials (about 61 cents) per kilogram of durum wheat in the current Iranian year. The price of rapeseed is set 46,600 rials (about $1.1) per kilogram. A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice and other products, are purchased from farmers by the state company under a guarantee in Iran.
