Iran discloses volume of mangoes harvested in Sistan-Baluchestan province

Some 9,000 tons of mangoes have been harvested and sold in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan province since April 20 of this Iranian year, Ardeshir Shahraki, head of the horticulture department of the agriculture organization in the province, said.

“About 14,000 tons of mangoes are expected to be harvested by the end of the harvest season (July 20) of this Iranian year,” Shahraki added, Trend reports referring to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

“Mangoes are mainly grown in Sarbaz, Nik Shahr, Gasrgand and Chabahar districts of the province,” head of the department added. “Mango orchards cover about 1,500 hectares in the province.”

Mangoes, bananas, papayas, guavas, oranges, olives, citrus fruits and others are grown in the province. It is possible to grow crops twice a year in some districts of the province thanks to its climate, namely, Nik Shahr, Sarbaz, Iranshahr, Konarak and Chabahar.
