Turkmenistan, ADB implement joint projects to support private entrepreneurship

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Country Director of Asian Development Bank (ADB) C. C. Yu discussed implementation of joint projects to support private entrepreneurship in the country, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The parties also discussed priority areas of cooperation including the fostering of the implementation of joint projects in the energy and transport sectors. In addition, the cooperation in the banking sector of the country was considered.

The participants highlighted the necessity to consolidate efforts to reduce the socio-economic impact of COVID-19. In this regard, the efforts of Turkmenistan aimed at strengthening stability and economic development in the country and in the entire region amid the coronavirus pandemic was emphasized.

ADB has been cooperating with Turkmenistan since 2000. The bank's major objective in the country is helping Turkmenistan to diversify the country's export markets and strengthen regional relationships.
