Georgian Glenberry company has exported 20 tons of Georgian strawberries and blueberries to the US this year, Trend reports citing Georgian Ministry of Agriculture.
Deputy Agriculture Minister Giorgi Khinashvili noted that the company has been exporting its products to international markets since last year.
Glenberry is located in the village of Kvenatkotsa, Kareli Municipality. It was established within the state-run United Agro Project in 2018, and it employs 150 locals.
The company has an International Food Safety Standard - ISO 22000 compliance certificate.
In total, 5 million lari ($1.6 million) has been invested in the business out of which 600,000 lari ($197,139) is a grant, and the rest was invested by the beneficiary.
Since 2013, more than 200 companies have been financed under the state United Agro Project in Georgia.
The United Agro Project is designed for long-term development with the objective to create a business environment conducive to competition in agriculture, stable growth of high-quality products, and introduction of international food safety standards.
