Turkmenistan to join Business Council of Republic of Korea - Central Asia

Turkmenistan, other Central Asian countries and South Korea signed a memorandum in electronic format on the establishment of the Business Council of the Republic of Korea - Central Asia, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The memorandum was signed during a videoconference between the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), the secretariat of the Central Asia – Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum, and the heads of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Central Asian countries on June 29, 2020.

The videoconference was held in order to strengthen trade and economic cooperation between the Republic of Korea and Central Asian countries. In this regard, the importance of the Korean initiative to create the above-mentioned business council was noted.

The heads of the chambers of commerce and industry also discussed issues of deepening trade and economic cooperation between the countries, including the implementation of joint projects in such areas as arbitration, tourism and industry.

Earlier, Turkmenistan and Korea identified steps to develop cooperation in the fields of investment, energy, textile industry, shipbuilding and digital technologies.
