Car exports makes largest negative contribution to reducing export earnings in Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 1

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Car exports (14.2 percentage points) made the largest negative contribution to reducing export earnings in May 2020 in Georgia, Trend reports referring to National Bank of Georgia (NBG).

The export volume was also negatively affected by a decrease in external demand for copper ores and concentrates, natural grape wines and ferroalloys, said the bank.

Revenues from the export of medicines and mineral waters also decreased significantly (total contribution of 5.1 percentage points to total exports).

On the contrary, the demand for alcoholic beverages and precious metals and concentrates increased sharply. Exports of raw gold and fats and their fractions also increased.

According to NBG, in May 2020 exports were more diversified by product groups compared to May 2019.
