Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have agreed on cooperation in the water management field, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources Magzum Mirzagaliyev said, Trend reports with reference to his Twitter.
“Within the framework of a working trip to Tashkent, a Road Map on cooperation was signed with the Uzbekistan’s Minister of Water Economy of Uzbekistan Shavkat Khamraev,” Mirzagaliyev said.
Mirzagaliyev said that the signed document is especially important as it regulates a number of issues in the water management sector.
“In particular, it covers a joint technical study and monitoring of water bodies built and reconstructed since 1991; the adoption of joint measures to ensure additional discharges from the reservoirs,” the official said.
“Another important point is ensuring transparency in water resources distribution,” he added.
Mirzagaliev also added that negotiations with the Uzbek side are to be continued as there are still several strategic issues on the agenda.
