The manufacturing volume of steel and other metal products increased in Iran during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 20-June 20, 2020), Trend reports citing Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).
According to the report, the volume of production of crude steel by largest Iranian steel companies increased by 8 percent and exceeded 5.7 million tons in three months compared to the same period of the last Iranian year.
In addition, there was an increase in the production volume of steel products. Thus, the production of steel products increased by 1 percent and reached 3.5 million tons.
“The volume of production of iron ore pellets reached 11.2 million tons in three months. This is an increase of 2 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year,” the report said.
During three months, the production volume of aluminum ingots exceeded 101,000 tons, and this is an increase of 63 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the report.
“The sponge iron production volume was 8.2 million tons in the three months, and this is an increase of 12 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year,” the report added.
According to the report, the volume of cathode copper production increased by 2 percent and exceeded 69,000 tons in three months compared to the same period last Iranian year.
"In the third month (May 21-June 20), the production volume of aluminum ingots increased by 73 percent and exceeded 36,000 tons. The volume of cathode copper production increased by 16 percent and exceeded 25,800 tons,” the report noted.
The sponge iron production volume increased by 16 percent and reached more than 2.66 million tons in the third month. In addition, the volume of steel ingot production increased by 8 percent to more than 1.94 million tons.
The production volume of iron ore pellets in the third month exceeded 4.07 million tons. This is an increase of 8 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year, according to the report.
