Georgia has sufficient potential to be good, reliable partner of EU

The positive dynamics in Georgia-European Union (EU) cooperation were discussed during an online working meeting between Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia and European Commission's Director-General for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Christian Danielsson, Trend reports with reference to the government’s press office.

The meeting's participants included EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell and the Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Advisor Irakli Chikovani.

The conversation revolved around variety of areas and practical steps to be taken toward further enhancing the effectiveness of the result-oriented cooperation. According to the parties, it is important to define concrete tasks to boost Georgia's integration into the EU and to bring tangible outcomes to every citizen.

Special emphasis was placed on subsequent aspects in Georgia-EU cooperation, including, among others, deeper ties in the areas of transport and communication, enhanced educational programs funded by the EU to provide more Georgian citizens with greater access to these programs. The role and importance of the Black Sea were singled out in the context of transport and communication routes.

The meeting participants noted Georgia's visible achievements under the Eastern Partnership initiative. According to the parties, after ten years into the partnership, it is now necessary to have a very concise agenda to ensure that the subsequent period is equally effective and that the process of integration enjoys due support.

The sides also underlined the European Green Deal, an important direction in the EU agenda. It was noted that Georgia has sufficient potential to be a good and reliable partner for the EU, given the country's opportunities for producing renewable energy.
