Volume of wheat purchased from farmers in Iran's Mazandaran province increases

The volume of wheat purchased from farmers in the Mazandaran Province (northern Iran) increased by 50 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director of Government Trading Corporation of Iran’s branch in Mazandaran Province Bahram Najafi said, Trend reports citing the corporation's website.

Najafi said that 53,600 tons of wheat has been purchased in Mazandaran Province since June 4.

He added that the value of wheat purchased from farmers is more than 1.37 trillion rials (about $32.6 million), and so far farmers have been paid more than 1.14 trillion rials (about $27.2 million).

The price of ordinary wheat to be purchased from farmers in the current planting year is set at 25,000 rials (about 59 cents), and of durum wheat - at 26,000 rials (about 61 cents) per kilogram in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020). The price of rapeseed is set at 46,600 rials (about $1.1) per kilogram.

A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice and other products are purchased from farmers by a state company under a guarantee in Iran.
