Uzbek-made personal protective equipment may reach int'l markets through retail

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 14

By Ilkin Seyfaddini - Trend:

Crown Agents would be able to support Uzbek manufacturers of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) in entering international markets, acting as a retailer of the products, Regional Manager (Central Asia) of the Crown Agents, Larisa Kokareva told Trend in an interview.

According to her, Crown Agents is contracted by 45 countries across the globe to assist in the fight against COVID-19 by providing a comprehensive range of supply chain services.

“Taking into account the company’s experience in managing the supply chain in the context of COVID-19 pandemic it was decided to share this experience with authorities of Uzbekistan responsible for the procurement and distribution of medicines, health products and equipment. Two online conferences were conducted by Crown Agents for participants from the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan, National Innovative Healthcare Platform (UZHEALTH) of Uzbekistan and other ministries and agencies. The objective of these conferences was to discuss issues related to the arrangement of emergency procurement and supply chains and finding solutions to the systemic impacts of the outbreak," Kokareva said.

As a result of these activities the Embassy of Uzbekistan in London has arranged online conference with participation of a number of PPE manufacturers in Uzbekistan.

As Kokareva said, the main topic of discussion was the inclusion of personal protective equipment manufactured in Uzbekistan in Crown Agents’ supply chain around the world.

She added that Crown Agents can also provide training to the Uzbek manufacturers on how to participate in international tenders for supply of PPE and prepare competitive bids.
