Iran's Mahabad mines to be provided with asphalt roads

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 14

A 15-kilometer-long road is being built in the Mahabad county of West Azerbaijan Province (northwestern Iran) to provide mines with asphalt roads, Deputy Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of West Azerbaijan Province Parisa Abadpour said, Trend reports citing the organization.

According to Abadpour, 10 km of this road is being built in cooperation with the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) and will be commissioned soon.

Abadpour added that at present, there are 73 mines in Iran's Mahabad county.

The deputy chairman stressed that more than 652,000 tons of products are extracted a year from these mines and employ more than 300 people.

"The mines of the Mahabad county mainly extract decorative stones, travertine, iron ore, manganese and barite," he said.
