Iran gov't, parliament consider allocating foreign currency for basic goods import

TEHRAN, Iran, July 14

The speaker of Iran's parliament, heads of the parliament economic and budget commissions, and a group of minister hold a meeting on July 13 to discuss issues of providing foreign currency for import of basic goods, Trend reports citing ICANA.

During the meeting, Minister of Jihad Agriculture Kazem Khavazi, caretaker of Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade Hossein Modarres Khayabani, Minister of Oil Bijan Zanganeh, Director General of Customs Administration Mehdi Mirashrafi, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran Abdul Nasser Hemmati made reports on the current situation.

Chairman of the parliament's Economic Commission Mohammad Reza Poorabrahimi, and chairman of the Program and Budget Commission Hamid Reza Haji Babaei raised their concerns regarding the issue of the preferred foreign currency rate for basic goods import.

The Speaker of the Parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf stressed the need to continue consultations with the government the government to address the issue.
