Uzbekistan actively develops chemical, electrotechnical, pharmaceutical industries

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with new projects in oil and gas chemical, electrotechnical and pharmaceutical industries in the country via videoconference on July 16, 2020, Trend reports citing the press service of the president.

The meeting provided information on new projects in the oil and gas chemical industry.

"Uzbekistan put into operation the complex for production of polyvinyl chloride, caustic soda and methanol in Navoiazot JSC on December 28, 2019. It is planned to employ 650 people and produce $132 million worth of products per year," the message said.

Another plant project envisages production of hydrogen peroxide. The launch is planned for September 2021 in the country's Navoi region.

As a result of the implementation of the project for the production of carbamide-formaldehyde concentrate (the design value of which is more than $18 million), the production of import substitution products for $9 million and export for $1 million per year will be launched at Navoiazot. Construction of the plant began in March this year, commissioning is scheduled for March 2021.

Moreover, Uzbekistan plans to implement the $12 million project to produce reagents based on carboxymethyl cellulose. The first stage of the project was launched in March this year in Yukorichirchik district. After the completion of all four stages by 2023, import substitution products worth $9 million and export oriented products worth $13 million will be manufactured.

Also, Uzbekistan plans to implement the project for the production of polypropylene foam (costing $5 million), which is used in the production of insulating food containers, protective helmets, car seats, toys and other products. The enterprise is planned to be put into operation in August 2021 in Yashnabad district of Tashkent.

Currently, the country's electrotechnical industry is represented by 429 enterprises, which produce more than 70 types of goods. According to the results of the last year, the electrotechnical industry produced $897.5 million and exported $250.3 million worth of goods, the message said.

According to presidential press service, in pharmaceutical branch of Uzbekistan 93 investment projects worth $630 million are being implemented, of which $355 million are foreign investments.

Following the results of 2019 the volume of manufacture of pharmaceutical production in the country has made $170 million, export volume has made $22.1 million. The share of imported products in the domestic consumption of pharmaceutical products is 79 percent.
