Azerbaijan's livestock production increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 20

Livestock production in Azerbaijan increased by 3.2 percent from January through June 2020, having exceeded 2 billion manat ($1.17 billion), Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee.

During the mentioned period, the country’s crop production rose by 1.1 percent and totaled over 1.9 million manat ($1.1 million),

According to the committee, the country produced 260,400 tons of meat, 1 million tons of milk, 991.5 million eggs and 14,600 tons of wool, 445.9 tons of silkworm cocoon.

On an annualized basis, meat production increased by 3.1 percent, milk - by 1.9 percent, eggs – by 7 percent, and wool production - by 0.1 percent.

In the first six months of this year, 368,3 tons of potatoes (an increase of 9.7 percent) and 716,900 tons of other vegetables were grown, which is 6.2 percent more compared to the same period of last year.

The total volume of agricultural production in Azerbaijan in actual prices amounted to about 4 billion manat ($2.3 billion) in the reporting period, having shown a 2.2 percent growth over the year.
