BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 18
By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:
Twenty freight wagons have been manufactured at the Foolad Derakhshan Arak company’s wagons manufacturing plant in the Markazi Province (central Iran) from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to date, Executive Director of the company Rahman Mirnezami told IRNA, Trend reports.
Mirnezami emphasized that the manufacturing of each freight wagon cost from 4.8 billion rials to 7.5 billion rials (about $114,000-$185,000).
He added that Foolad Derakhshan Arak Company plans to manufacture 257 freight wagons in the current Iranian year to be delivered to operating companies.
The director noted that in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), the company's plant produced and handed to operating companies 225 freight wagons.
“The import of various wagons to Iran has been banned to support local production, which has resulted in a positive change in production conditions,” he said.
Mirnezami added that there are a number of problems. One of them is the lack of foreign currency for the import of a number of non-domestically produced equipment, including brakes and tires.
The director stressed that the company has the potential to manufacture more than 500 freight wagons a year, with the support of operating companies and the issuance of low-interest loans.
Iran's Foolad Derakhshan Arak Company was established in 1996 as a service center of Iran's Mobarakeh Steel Company.
