Foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan in 1H2020 down

The foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan in the first six months of 2020, compared to the same period of 2019, decreased by 18.2 percent, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

Following the results of the period from January through June 2020, the foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan reached $15.8 billion. Compared to the same period last year, the indicator has decreased by $3.5 billion.

Out of total volume of foreign trade turnover, the export made up $6.2 billion (as compared to the period from January through 2019, the index decreased by 22.6 percent), while the import made up $9.5 billion (a 15 percent decrease). As a result, the balance of foreign trade turnover amounted to a passive balance of $3.2 billion.

Thus, while in January and February the foreign trade turnover was registered at the level of $2.9 billion, in March it dropped sharply to $2.2 billion (as compared to February 2020, a decrease of 25.3 percent was registered).

In June 2020, exports and imports exceeded $2.8 billion, which is more than in March, April and May 2020.

The largest volume of foreign trade turnover was recorded with China (18.1 percent), Russia (16.3 percent), Kazakhstan (8.4 percent), South Korea (7.1 percent), Turkey (5.6 percent), Kyrgyzstan (2.5 percent) and Germany (2.1 percent).
