Lebap region of Turkmenistan signs contract with farmers for vegetables supply

Miwe company of Turkmenistan’s Lebap region signed separate contracts with local farmers for the supply of vegetables this year, Trend reports with reference to the Business Turkmenistan information portal.

Contracts were signed with 266 farmers for the supply of potatoes and with 172 farmers for the supply of onions.

The company has special warehouses to store products. In particular, these warehouses currently store some 2,200 tons of products.

The products stored at the warehouses include about 140 tons of onion, about 60 tons of beet, more than 250 tons of carrots, more than 30 tons of watermelons, 2.5 tons of cucumbers, half a ton of tomatoes and more than 10 tons of cabbages.

In addition, dozens of tons of crops are brought to the company every day, the report says.

In general, the company stores vegetables in 2 warehouses – one is designed to store 1,000 tons of crop, and the second for 3,000 tons.

Meanwhile there are plans to build additional warehouses for food storage in other regions - refrigerators for storing and processing agricultural products are planned to be set up in the Dashoguz region of the country.

Some 1.6 hectares of land has been allocated for the construction of one of the refrigerators. The warehouse will be designed to store 350 tons of vegetables and fruits. Another one will be built in the same region on 3 hectares of land, to store 8,000 tons of agricultural products.
