Nominal value of shares in state holdings in Uzbekistan down during 1H2020

Uzbekistan has a state share in the authorized capital of 250 joint-stock companies out of 594, Trend reports with reference to the Central Depository of Uzbekistan.

The total nominal value of state-owned shares is 121.4 trillion soum ($11.8 billion).

In the first half of the year, the nominal value of the state share increased by 46.8 trillion soum($4.5 billion, due to the increase in the number of state-owned shares).

In the first half of 2020, the nominal value of shares in state holdings decreased by 184.9 billion soum ($18.1 billion).

In general, the number of depositors registered in the Unified Base of Depositors of the Central Securities Depository decreased by 7,853 individuals and legal entities for the first six months of 2020.

In December 2019, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev ordered to significantly reduce the state's share in economy. Draft strategy for the period from 2020 through 2025, a privatization plan and rules of introduction of corporate governance have been developed.

It is planned to reduce the number of enterprises with state participation by 81 percent, to leave the state only 554 enterprises, and sell or abolish the rest.
