Turkmenistan’s Merkez company, which deals with growing and selling vegetables, intends to start collecting more crops of eggplants, sweet peppers, lettuce, etc., Trend reports with reference to the Business Turkmenistan information portal.

Merkez also intends to use new technologies for timely germination of seeds.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has previously spoken about the importance of implementing the digital system in agriculture at a work meeting on the development of the agricultural sector on March 30, 2020.

The concept of digital economy development for 2019-2025 was developed by the president of Turkmenistan and aims at improving the efficiency of the national economy and social sectors of the country through the extensive use of information technologies.

This sector plays an important role in the development of Turkmenistan’s economy.

Agriculture in Turkmenistan is developing rapidly. It is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of agricultural crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable and fruits.

The development of agriculture is carried out on a scientific basis. Various types of agricultural crops are grown taking into account the agroecological characteristics of the country's regions.

Special attention is paid to increasing the volume of products in Turkmenistan. As a result, in recent years, the country has increased the production of vegetables and fruit and berries and enlarged the area of perennial plants, vineyards and greenhouses.
