Uzbekistan's Kashkadarya region starts exports of pumpkins to Russia

The Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan started exporting pumpkins to the Russian markets, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the administration of the region.

"Some 19 tons of pumpkin have already been shipped to the Russian markets. At the same time, local farmers plan to increase yields and, consequently, foreign supplies. Imported seeds are planted in the fields, while some ripe fruits are delivered to local consumers, while the other part is exported," the message said.

Earlier, Kashkadarya region started exporting yellow watermelons of Chillaki S1 variety to Russia at the price of 55 cents per kilogram.

Uzbekistan exported more than 2068.3 tons of watermelons as of July 1 2020.

The largest batch of watermelons was shipped to Russia (1,179 tons), but this is 228 tons less than the same period of 2019.

In total, Uzbekistan exported $427.2 million worth of fruits and vegetables in the first half of 2020.

Compared to the same period of 2019, the Uzbekistan’s export of vegetables decreased by 34 percent.
