China's import of wood, furniture from Turkey soars despite pandemic

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 31

Exports of furniture and wood from Turkey to China soared by 72.37 percent from January through June 2020 compared to the same period of 2019, surpassing $35.3 million, the Turkish Trade Ministry told Trend .

In June 2020, Turkey’s export of furniture and wood to China increased 4.6 times compared to June 2019 and amounted to $4.5 million.

In 1H2020, the export of furniture and wood from Turkey to world markets decreased by 5.2 percent compared to 1H2020, amounting to $2.4 billion. Meanwhile, Turkey’s export of wood and furniture accounted for 3.3 percent of the country's total export.

In June 2020, Turkey exported the wood and furniture worth $459.7 million to foreign markets, which is 32.3 percent more compared to the same month of 2019. In this month, the country’s exports of wood and furniture accounted for 3.4 percent of its total export.

Over the past 12 months (from June 2019 through June 2020), Turkey exported the furniture and wood worth over $5.3 billion abroad.
