Georgian Caviar works to reduce share of imported caviar in Georgian market

Georgian Caviar company plans, in cooperation with other local producers, to reduce the share of imported caviar in the Georgian market to a minimum within 3-5 years, Trend reports citing Georgian media.

The company owns three fish farms and a restaurant "Fish House" in the village Karaleti.

According to Aleksandre Dadianidze, the founder of the company, nowadays, the share of imported caviar in the market has been reduced from 90 to 70 percent. In the next 3-5 years, Georgian Caviar and other producer companies will reduce the figuren to 20 percent.

The company produces salmon caviar, which is sold in 100, 200 and 500-gram packages. The price of a kilogram is 130 lari ($42.46). Ibn the future, Georgian Caviar plans to start production of sturgeon caviar.

The company's annual production capacity is 2 tons of caviar. According to Dadianidze, the company is one of the largest producers and suppliers of fish for the HoReca sector.

Georgian Caviar plans to intensify online sales in the fall.

The company was founded in 2003. Currently, it employs 70 people.
