Export from Iran's from Aras Free Trade, Industrial Zone grows

Export from the Aras Free Trade and Industrial Zone in the East Azerbaijan Province (northwestern Iran) is growing, managing director of Aras Free Trade and Industrial Zone Mohsen Nariman told IRNA, Trend reports.

Nariman noted that the products worth $103 million were exported from this zone three years ago (from March 21, 2016 to March 21, 2017), and worth $176 million - two years ago (from March 21, 2017 to March 21, 2018).

He added that while $339 million worth of products were exported from this zone in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020).

The director emphasized that last Iranian year, the products from the Aras Free Trade and Industrial Zone were mainly exported to Azerbaijan (40 percent), Turkey (26 percent) and Russia (11 percent), while other countries accounted for 23 percent.

"More than 15,900 people work in the Aras Free Trade and Industrial Zone. About 4,990 of them work in agriculture and fishery sectors, and 3,690 in industry and manufacturing sectors," he said.

Aras Free Trade and Industrial Zone is located on more than 50,000 hectares of land on the banks of the Aras River.
