Kazakhstan to gradually resume flights on more int'l routes

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 12

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Kazakhstan will gradually resume international flights to several countries starting Aug. 17, 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Civil Aviation Committee.

The committee said that in accordance with the decision of the Interdepartmental Commission for Prevention of Coronavirus Spread in Kazakhstan, the international flights to the UAE, Belarus, Germany, the Netherlands, Egypt, Ukraine and Russia will be operated.

These countries support the resumption of flights with Kazakhstan in compliance with sanitary and epidemiological requirements.

At the same time, the committee noted that flights to Russia require further authorization from the Russian side.

The number of flights on international routes will be based on existing intergovernmental agreements on air traffic and subject payload range on each route.

In June 2020, Kazakhstan announced a decision to launch international flights to a number of countries following coronavirus-related restrictions of implementing flights. The flights are being gradually resumed to Turkey, China, South Korea, Thailand and Japan from June 20, 2020.

The list was then further expanded and included Hungary, India, Germany, Czech Republic, Malaysia, Egypt, Ukraine, Poland, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.

The first two cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Kazakhstan among those who arrived in Almaty city from Germany on March 13, 2020.
