Purchase of wheat resume in eleven counties of Iran's Lorestan Province

More than 267,700 tons of wheat was purchased from farmers in 11 counties of the Lorestan Province (western Iran) since May 21 to August 11, director of Government Trading Corporation (GTC) of Iran’s branch in Lorestan Province Hojjat Biranvand said, Trend reports citing the corporation’s website.

According to Biranvand, the most amount of wheat was purchased in Azna county (62,289 tons), Kuhdasht county (49,407 tons), Aligudarz county (31,423 tons).

Biranvand added that the remaining wheat was purchased in Pol-e Dokhtar, Rumeshkan, Khorramabad, Sarab-e Dowreh, Dorud, Borujerd, Delfan and Selseleh counties.

The director stressed that the value of purchased wheat was more than 6.72 trillion rials (about $160 million).

The price of ordinary wheat to be purchased from farmers in the current planting year is set at 25,000 rials (about 59 cents), and of durum wheat - at 26,000 rials (about 61 cents) per kilogram in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020). The price of rapeseed is set at 46,600 rials (about $1.1) per kilogram.

A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice and other products are purchased from farmers by a state company under a guarantee in Iran.
