Iran declares volume of wheat purchased in Kerman Province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 15

More than 123,890 tons of wheat has been purchased from farmers in the Kerman Province (southeastern Iran) from the beginning of harvesting season in Iran April 4 to date August 15, director of Government Trading Corporation (GTC) of Iran’s branch in Kerman Province Dariush Maheri said, Trend reports citing the corporation website.

Maheri noted that the value of purchased wheat was 3.14 trillion rials (about $74.8 million). Of this amount, 3.12 trillion rials (about $74.2 million) was paid to farmers.

"In addition, 2,330 tons of rapeseed worth more than 107 billion rials (about $2.54 million) has been purchased from farmers in the province, so far," he added.

The director stressed that the purchase of sunflower seeds with a guarantee in Kerman Province has started.

The price of ordinary wheat to be purchased from farmers in the current planting year is set at 25,000 rials (about 59 cents), and of durum wheat - at 26,000 rials (about 61 cents) per kilogram in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020). The price of rapeseed is set at 46,600 rials (about $1.1) per kilogram.

A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice and other products are purchased from farmers by a state company under a guarantee in Iran.
