More 18 trillion rials (about $428 million) has been invested to the establishment of greenhouses in Iran's Aras Free Trade, Industrial Zone, so far, managing director of Aras Free Trade and Industrial Zone Mohsen Nariman said, Trend reports citing the zone’s official website.
According to Nariman, currently, there are 60 greenhouses operating in the Aras Free Trade and Industrial Zone.
Nariman added that the most of the greenhouse products were exported to Iraq, Russia, Qatar and Oman.
"It is projected that more than 50,000 tons of products will be produced in the greenhouse area of the Aras Free Trade and Industrial Zone in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020), he said.
The director stressed that the production of greenhouses in the Aras Free Trade and Industrial Zone is expected to increase by 2 percent in the current Iranian year compared to the last Iranian year.
"The zone has a total of 333 hectares of greenhouse land. About 160 hectares of it have been put into operation. This land will increase to 180 hectares by the end of current Iranian year (March 21, 2021)," he said.
Nariman said that in total, 1,300 people are employment in the greenhouse land of the Aras Free Trade and Industrial Zone.
