Production in Azerbaijan's non-oil sector rises

The volume of industrial production in Azerbaijan amounted to 21.6 billion manat ($12.71 billion) from January through July 2020, Trend reports referring to the report of the State Statistics Committee.

Over the reporting period, the volume of industrial production dropped by 2.7 percent compared to the same period of 2019, while in July the production was 19.2 percent more than in the previous month.

Production in the non-oil sector of industry rose by 13 percent.

In the mining sector, industrial production made up 61 percent, processing production - 32.7 percent, production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam - 5.5 percent, and 0.8 percent accounted for the water supply, waste treatment and processing sector.

In the sphere of production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam, volume of production increased by 11.8 percent, water supply, waste treatment and processing - by 0.5 percent.

The share of oil in the mining sector decreased by 6.5 percent, while the share of commercial gas increased by 13.3 percent, the committee noted.

The production of pharmaceutical products rose by 7.8 times, the production of cars, trailers and semi-trailers - by 92.5 percent, other vehicles - by 57.7 percent, the metallurgical production – by 2.1 times, machinery and equipment - by 64.9 percent, computer, electronic and optical products - by 42.8 percent.

Furthermore, manufacture of woodworking and wood products grew by 41 percent, electrical production – by 5.1 percent, chemical production - 18.8 percent, textile industry - by 0.4 percent, furniture production - by 13.8 percent, construction materials - by 4.8 percent, the production of leather, leather goods and footwear - by 13.2 percent, work on installation and repair of machinery and equipment - by 43.1 percent.

The production of finished metal products declined by 0.5 percent, drinks - by 7 percent, petroleum products - by 0.9 percent, printing products – by 5.9 percent, and foodstuffs - by 1.5 percent.
