Uzbekistan increased cotton fiber production by 34.8 percent in the period from January through July 2020,compared to the same period in 2019, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.
According to the committee, Uzbekistan produced 358,200 tons of cotton fiber in the period from January through July 2020.
During the first half of 2020, Uzbekistan produced 344,000 tons of cotton fiber.
Enterprises of Uzbekistan produced 250,300 tons of cotton yarn in the period from January through June 2020, which shows 8.8-percent growth compared to the same period in 2019.
According to the decision of the government, the country has completely abandoned the export of cotton fiber since 2019. At the same time, in March 2020, the government order for the cultivation of cotton fiber was also abolished. Instead, cotton fiber will be grown by cotton textile clusters and farmers.
In addition, the starting price of the cotton fiber is determined by the seller based on the value of the New York Mercantile Exchange futures quotation.
