The spokesman for the Atomic Energy Agency Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi explained the purpose of the first visit of the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency to Tehran.

The Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, mad his first trip to Tehran as head of the UN's nuclear watchdog on Monday, in an attempt to put pressure on Iran to allow inspectors to visit two key sites, he announced on Saturday.

“Iran currently has over three tons of enriched uranium in storage, which is at least 10 times more than the ceiling agreed upon in JCPOA,” Kamalvandi said referring to Iran's steps for reducing its commitments within the JCPOA, Trend reports citing Alalam News Agency.

“They [the negotiating parties in JCPOA, the P5+1 group] expected us to stop production, when the volume of the heavy water had surpassed the 130-metric-ton and there was no customer abroad to sell it to,” he said.

Kamalvandi said that Iran's exports in this matter are to European and Asian countries. He did not mention the names of countries.

“Next year, we will start the cold water test of Arak reactor modernization,” he said.

Referring to the possibility for IAEA to accept the US pressure, he said that the Agency can be under political pressure, just as other international institutions.

Regarding the inspections of Iran's nuclear sites, Kamalvandi said “there are currently two sites which the Agency will visit - in the cities of Reza and Abadeh, and one near Tehran.

"The inspections will be carried out on a condition that they will not request to visit other sites after these," Kamalvandi said.
