Iran Minister of Energy launches numerous electricity projects

TEHRAN, Iran, Aug. 25

Iran Minister of Energy Reza Ardakanian launched 2,230 electricity projects in the country through video conferencing in Alborz province.

The implementation of these projects in different regions of the country has cost over $752 million, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"Today, several projects in different provinces of the country, including Isfahan, Alborz, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Qom, Qazvin, Tehran, Ilam, Kurdistan, East, and West Azerbaijan and Sistan and Baluchestan were initiated,” Gholam-Ali Rakhshani Mehr, Deputy Minister of Energy, said at the opening ceremony of these projects.

"By launching these projects, more than 350,000 new subscribers were added to the country's electricity subscribers,” he said.

The Deputy Minister of Energy noted that "We now have 37 million electricity subscribers in the country. The upgrade of electricity networks and targeted energy distribution are on the agenda of the Ministry of Energy."

The Ministry of Energy allocated $1.4 billion for improvement and optimization of the country's electricity networks in the current Iranian year (started on March 20), he added.

“Currently 45 percent of the country's electricity networks are equipped with self-supporting cables,” he also added.
