Turkmenistan supplies tomatoes, grapes, apples, pears, quinces, and other crops to Russia, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture told Trend.

"Deliveries from Turkmenistan to Russia in terms of value increased by 83 percent - to $19 million in 1H2020, compared to 1H2019, due to an increase in the supply of fresh tomatoes," the ministry added.

Furthermore, the ministry noted that foreign trade between Russia and Turkmenistan is developing successfully.

The parties are systematically working to increase the volume and expand the range of agricultural goods in the markets of both countries.

As reported, Turkmenistan may open a trading house in Kazan, Tatarstan (Russia). One of the main tasks of the trading house of Turkmenistan in Kazan will be to sell locally manufactured products in Russia.

Reportedly, agriculture in Turkmenistan is rapidly developing. It is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable, and fruits.

The development of agriculture is carried out on a scientific basis. Various types of crops are grown taking into account the agro-ecological characteristics of the country's regions.
