Winter wheat sowing to begin in number of Turkmen regions

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 28

By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

Winter wheat sowing will start in Turkmenistan’s Akhal and Balkan regions on September 2, 2020, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

The wheat sowing will also begin in Turkmenistan’s Lebap and Mary regions from September 9, and in Dashoguz – from September 16.

Just as last year, Turkmenistan is allocating state land for wheat production to enterprises. The Turkmen state provides seeds, mineral fertilizers, and means for combating agricultural pests on preferential terms.

Reportedly, agriculture in Turkmenistan is rapidly developing. It is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable, and fruits.

The development of agriculture is carried out on a scientific basis. Various types of crops are grown taking into account the agro-ecological characteristics of the country's regions.

Special attention is paid to increasing the volume of products in Turkmenistan. As a result, in recent years, the country has increased the production of vegetables and fruit and berries and enlarged the area of perennial plants, vineyards, and greenhouses.
