Turkmenistan announces planned volume of wheat harvest

Some 690,000 hectares of land have been allocated for wheat sowing in Turkmenistan, from which 1.4 million tons of wheat will be collected, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

In particular, it is planned to collect 400,000 tons of wheat in Turkmenistan's Akhal region, 345,000 in Mary, 310,000 in Lebap, 265,000 in Dashoguz, and 80,000 tons in Balkan region.

Such wheat varieties as Sakhrai, Juvan, Bitarap, Eloten-1, Eloten-3, Turkmenbashi-1, Gyzylshaglavuk-25, Miras Akbash, Shanly, Khasylly, and Vatan will be planted.

Also, special equipment has already been prepared for sowing wheat in Turkmenistan. In particular, 2,583 arable and 7,605 row tractors of such brands as John Deere, CLAAS, Case, Belarus-80H and Belarus-82.1, as well as 1,723 seeders and other technical means were prepared for wheat sowing season.

Just as last year, Turkmenistan is allocating state land for wheat production to enterprises. For wheat production, the Turkmen state provides seeds, mineral fertilizers and means for combating agricultural pests on preferential terms.

Agriculture in Turkmenistan is developing rapidly. It is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of agricultural crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable and fruits.

The development of agriculture is carried out on a scientific basis. Various types of agricultural crops are grown taking into account the agroecological characteristics of the country's regions.
