Iran's state companies wrap up purchase of wheat from farmers in Alborz Province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 6

The purchasing of wheat in the Alborz Province (northern Iran) which began on June 14, has been completed today (September 6), Director General of Government Trading Corporation (GTC) of Iran’s branch in Alborz Province, Siavash Hosseinpour said, Trend reports citing the corporation’s website.

The director emphasized that 30,000 tons of wheat was purchased from farmers in the province during the reporting period.

Hosseinpour added that in addition, 1,020 tons of rapeseed was purchased from farmers in the province.

The price of ordinary wheat purchased from farmers in the current planting year is set at 25,000 rials (about 59 cents), and of durum wheat - at 26,000 rials (about 61 cents) per kilogram in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020). The price of rapeseed is set at 46,600 rials (about $1.1) per kilogram.

Certain products in Iran, including wheat, tea, rice, and other products are purchased from farmers by a state company under a guarantee.
