Turkmenistan increases import of medicines from EAEU countries

Turkmenistan has increased the export of medicines packaged for retail sale from such countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) as Belarus and Russia by 74.4 percent in 1H2020, Trend reports, citing statistics from the European Economic Commission.

During this period, Turkmenistan imported 648 tons of medicines packaged for retail sale from Belarus and Russia, totaling $12.2 million, which is also 64.1 percent more than the number of exports of medicines packaged for retail sale from Belarus and Russia in 1H2019.

Meanwhile, the share of Belarus in the above-mentioned export amount was $1.2 million, while Russia’s share was over $11 million.

Also, in 1H2020, Russia exported 1,845 kilograms of cotton wool, gauze, bandages, and band-aids to Turkmenistan, which is 3.1 times more than the export of the same products for 1H2019. Thus, the export of 1,845 tons of cotton, gauze, bandages, and band-aids from Russia to Turkmenistan amounted to $4,320.

Russia also exported 747 kilograms of other pharmaceutical products to Turkmenistan, totaling $96,282, which is 2.8 times more than the export of other pharmaceutical products for the same period of last year.
