Facilities commissioned in Iran's Aras Free Trade-Industrial Zone

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 10

Twelve production facilities have been put into operation in the Aras Free Trade and Industrial Zone in the East Azerbaijan Province (northwestern Iran), Managing Director of Aras Free Trade and Industrial Zone Mohsen Nariman said, Trend reports citing IRINN.

He made the remark at an event dedicated to the commissioning of facilities.

According to the Nariman, 71 million euro and $4.4 million has been invested to these facilities.

Nariman added that more than 1,000 people have been employed with the commissioning of these enterprises.

The director emphasized that 71 million euro has been spent on the construction of the 80-hectares greenhouse, which will produce vegetables by hydroponic methods for exports to the CIS countries. As many as 650 people were employed in this greenhouse.

“Another steel plant was put into operation in the zone. About 2.3 million euro was spent on the construction of this steel plant and 170 people were employed,” he noted.

The director said that the plant will produce 1.2 million tons of steel products a year.

According to the report, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and other officials attended to the event via a videoconference.
