Volume of essential products available in Iranian ports revealed

The volume of essential products available in Iranian ports is 3.4 million tons at present, Deputy Director of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Mehrdad Jamal Arvanaghi said, Trend reports citing IRICA.

According to him, the largest amount of essential product in Iranian ports is corn, which is about 1.62 million tons.

Arvanaghi added that in addition, 2.37 million tons of essential products are stored in the Imam Khomeini port.

The deputy director noted that 15 ships with a cargo of 586,000 tons are currently being unloaded and 10 ships carrying 584,000 tons of cargo are waiting to dock in the ports.

“At present, there are 3.8 million tons of cargo in Iranian ports which are non-essential products. These products are not in containers. There are 2 million tons of non-essential products in the Shahid Rajaee port,” he said.

Arvanaghi stressed according to estimates, more than 80 percent of the cargo is raw materials, spare parts, equipment and supplies to be used in manufacturing.

The customs official said that the number of containers in Iranian ports is currently 102,000. While the number of imported full containers is 30,000.
