Turkmenistan, France exchange views on promising areas of co-op

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 14

By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

Turkmenistan and France have discussed cooperation in such areas as energy, digitalization, communications, construction, civil aviation, healthcare, agriculture and others, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The discussions were held during a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Turkmenistan Isabelle Guisnel.

The parties noted the need to organize contacts at the highest level, both in the format of bilateral and multilateral visits.

The possibility of organizing regular contacts between the foreign ministries of the two countries within the framework of the cooperation program between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs for 2019-2021 was discussed.

The parties also discussed cooperation in the field of culture, education and science. In particular, the parties proposed to initiate the creation of the Turkmen-French Council for cooperation in the field of culture, education and science.

During the meeting, Guisnel presented copies of her credentials.

As the French Foreign Ministry told Trend earlier, France is interested in developing relations with Turkmenistan in all areas.

"Economic cooperation is a priority," the French Ministry said.

The countries signed a two-year cooperation plan in April 2019.

"The plan is being actively implemented, an example of which is the bilateral political consultations held via videoconference on June 5," the ,inistry stressed.
