Turkmenistan, China intend to increase mutual trade turnover

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 16

By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

Turkmenistan and China focused on the need to increase the dynamics of mutual trade turnover, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

This was stated during the videoconference of the VI Meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese Subcommittee on Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Chinese Committee on Cooperation.

The sides exchanged views on expanding ties in areas of mutual interest, including the development and improvement of online platforms for further meetings of representatives of the relevant structures of Turkmenistan and China.

Thus, among the promising areas of bilateral cooperation, such spheres as transport, trade, energy, construction materials, chemical and textile industries, agriculture, as well as the field of telecommunications and advanced information technologies and digital trade were noted.

Interest was expressed in enhancing business contacts between the public and private circles of Turkmenistan and China.

As reported, Turkmenistan and China cooperate in several areas. In particular, cooperation in the energy sector is highlighted.

As reported, a new field in Bagtyyarlyk contractual PSA territory is being put into operation in the country. The exploration and development of this field are carried out by the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).

CNPC signed the Bagtyyarlyk Production Sharing Agreement with Turkmenistan in 2007 and began to purchase natural fuel in Central Asia since 2009, after the launch of a gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to China through the territories of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
